Friendster Remodels Social Platform, Will Delete Pertinent User Data

If you have used Friendster some time in the distant past (and boy is it a very distant past) then you better log-in before May 31 and retrieve some of your cherished photos before Facebook will obliterate them.

That is right. And about time, too. In this world where Facebook clearly dominates in social networking, Friendster has become nothing more than the grandfather that nobody cares to remember anymore, and in a move to rekindle interest back to the site, the site’s developers have decided to rethink their position in the social networking scene they pioneered.

They shall do this by deleting all the profiles, inbox messages and blogs to name a few, paving way to another social networking site that allows users to interact “differently” compared to other networking sites.

"There will be new features that will leverage on your online activities and will enable you to connect with friends or engage new friends with similar interests," said a representative at Facebook. It would be interesting to watch how Friendster will try to regain a little bit of its former glory with this new formula, in this world full of Facebook status updates and Twitter feeds.

For users who do have data still left on the site, Friendster is making it easy for you to retrieve them all by using an exporter app, which lets you keep anything you want to keep. After May 31 you won't be able to get anything you may have left there otherwise, so you might as well go check it out. You may have had fond memories there, Testimonials and what-not.
